WhatsApp Broadcast List vs PingFlock: Which Should You Use?
If you want to send a WhatsApp broadcast to customers, you have two simple choices. You can use WhatsApp's own broadcast lists, or a tool like PingFlock. Both send your message to each person as a normal one-to-one chat. They are built for different sizes of business. Here is a fair look at both.
What a WhatsApp broadcast list is
A broadcast list is a free feature inside WhatsApp. You choose contacts, type one message, and WhatsApp sends a copy to each of them. Each person sees it as a private chat from you, and replies come back to that chat. They cannot see who else got it.
The well-known limits are:
- A list can hold up to 256 contacts.
- People only receive your broadcast if they have saved your number in their phone.
- Everyone receives the same text, with no name at the start.
- You send it yourself, there and then. There is no built-in scheduling.
What PingFlock is
PingFlock is a web app for small businesses. You link your existing WhatsApp number by scanning a QR code, upload your customer list, and send a personal message to everyone on it. It is meant for customers who opted in to hear from you, not for cold outreach.
Each customer is greeted by name. Messages can be worded a little differently, so they do not feel copy-pasted. You can attach an image or PDF, schedule the campaign for later, and watch a live report. Sending is spaced out with random delays, breaks and a daily limit, to keep it human-paced.

When a broadcast list is enough
Be honest with yourself here. You may not need any tool at all if:
- You have fewer than 256 regular customers.
- Most of them have saved your number, for example because they chat with you often.
- You send an update only now and then, and you are happy to press send yourself.
- The same message without a name works fine for your business.
In that case, a broadcast list is free, simple and already on your phone. Use it.
When PingFlock helps
PingFlock starts to make sense when one or more of these is true:
- Your list is bigger than 256. Instead of juggling several lists, you upload one file and send one campaign.
- Many customers never saved your number. This is common for shops, clinics and salons. A broadcast quietly misses these people.
- You want it to feel personal. "Hi Mei Ling" reads very differently from a generic notice.
- You want to schedule WhatsApp messages. Set it up on Sunday night, and it goes out on Monday morning while you open the shop.
- You want to know what happened. See who was sent, skipped or failed, and download it.
- You have several outlets or team members. Link more than one number on Growth or Pro.
The same good habits apply to both
Whichever you choose, message only customers who opted in. Say who you are, keep messages useful, and do not send too often. Give an easy way to stop, such as "Reply STOP to opt out", and remove anyone who asks. If your number is new, start with a small group and grow slowly. WhatsApp decides which accounts it restricts, so treating your customers well is the best protection.

Try it and see
The easiest way to decide is to try both. Send your next update with a broadcast list. Then start a free PingFlock trial and send the same update to a small group with names. You can watch the 4-minute demo first, or compare the plans.
